Auntie Flo - Goan Highlife E.P.

Posted by Joel • Mar 19, 2011

Our man Brian d’Souza has been keeping himself rather busy up in Glasgow of late.

Whilst continuing to help promote Slabs of the Tabernacle parties, he’s also been co-running a refreshing new club night named Highlife, with previous guests such as T-Williams and Mim Suleiman.

Musically sitting alongside his Highlife night, Brian also runs an excellent music blog called Afro Futures and has further started a series of related podcasts on Radio Magnetic, the first two of which which you can listen to here.

However perhaps the most exciting recent development is the rate at which Brian has been churning out some heavy rhythm-based party tracks under the guise of Auntie Flo. The tracks are full of rich sounds from across the globe that have already been getting played by DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos and Jackmaster.

This first release comes on the brand new Huntleys & Palmers label and is getting released on a limited edition 10” and digital format.

Both tracks on the forthcoming (casio keyboard heavy!) 10” have been given full video treatment that you can see below:

Auntie Flo – Highlife

Auntie Flo – Goa

The vinyl can be pre-ordered here.

10” out 21st March, Digital 1st April.
